In a city known for its energy and enterprise, Gujranwala has now taken the national lead in environmental awareness and wildlife protection. Continuing their impactful partnership, The BIG BookStores and YarMadadgar have launched a new campaign titled “Nest for Nature” — aimed at restoring the delicate balance of urban birdlife by distributing and installing 1,000 bird nests across schools, parks, and residential areas.
🎉 A Groundbreaking Ceremony with a Purpose
The initiative officially took flight at a groundbreaking ceremony held at YarMadadgar's Regional Office, where a diverse group of changemakers came together — from environmentalists and civil society activists to representatives of the Wildlife Department, Gujranwala, Rescue 1122, and the educational sector. The event was not just ceremonial; it was symbolic of a growing movement to safeguard urban biodiversity and the skies that belong to all of us.
🏫 Children as Champions of Conservation
Following the launch event, a special visit was made to RILLS Schools (ALPS CAMPUS PEOPLES COLONY), A SCHOOL WHICH HAS ALWAYS BEEN A TORCHBEARER when it comes to civic-engagement, educational integration, and hands-on learning experiences. Mr. Imran Gull (Director RILLS) extended a heartfelt welcome to all the campaign participants and engaged his school in this eco-friendly activity. RILLS' students not only received their eco-friendly wooden and mud nests but also actively participated in installing them in and around their school grounds. This hands-on activity allowed children to learn by doing — reinforcing lessons of empathy, environmental responsibility, and active citizenship.
It was more than just a school activity — it was a living science project. As students mounted the nests, they weren’t just helping birds — they were reconnecting with nature and becoming guardians of their local habitat.
